Since I started my career as a wedding photographer, I have been longing to take picture at the Monterey Bay Aquarium. When I mentioned the idea to Jon and Kim, they jumped on board. Of course it is beautiful, plus we had the chance to have a science field trip while taking the photos. What fun! I had a photo of the famous jellyfish in mind when thinking about what I wanted to do there, but the minute we showed up I knew that we would have the opportunity to try something really different and special. The aquarium has amazing light everywhere, silhouettes to die for, and the quaint town of Monterey just outside. We spent the afternoon looking around, taking photos, having lunch, and slowed things down…not a fast-paced engagement session by any means…but why rush when you can stop and look at the giant bluefin tuna for 15 minutes? After seeing the aquarium, we got to stroll down past Cannery Row and take some urban shots as well. I had a wonderful time, and am really excited about this set of photos. Some favorites are below!

The Monterey Bay Aquarium was wonderful. I can’t wait for the chance to shoot a wedding there someday. We had to dodge among the throngs of people and do a bit of hidden ninja photography. Having the place to yourself would be a photographic dream (plus a simply beautiful wedding venue). Special thanks so Kim and Jon for being so patient. This one took a long time, but I certainly think the photos were worth the extra effort.
