Tony and Janine will be getting married this next summer, and we headed out to some of the classic sights of San Francisco as well as some hidden gems that the couple picked out for their engagement photos. It’s always fascinating how I can take pictures many different times at one location, but the resulting product is always really unique. That was readily apparent at Crissy Field, with a classic and beautiful lookout over the Golden Gate Bridge, now with the Mark di Suvero SFMOMA sculptures placed around for a modern art twist on the usual photo props. We then wandered around to a few other places around SF, including the secluded Inner Fog wine bar in the Inner Sunset where the couple had their first date. I love the resulting photos from that spot as I can so easily imagine what their first outing might have looked and felt like years ago.

Crystal and Adam were married in Canada and wanted a set of post wedding photos at the absolutely stunning Auberge du Soleil resort where they were staying in Napa as part of their honeymoon retreat. Auberge du Soleil is quickly becoming one of my favorite places in Napa with its refined and luxurious grounds, attentive staff and picture perfect location.

Barbara and Dewan had their wedding in Shanghai earlier this year, but Barbara has wanted to see the Greek islands for years. For their honeymoon the couple spent 3 weeks touring Greece, Turkey and Italy before heading back to China. I met up with them in the beautiful cliffside town of Oia on the island of Santorini for some bridal portraits in this magical location- known for the most beautiful sunset in the world, whitewashed buildings dug into the cliff faces with spectacular blue domed family churches ornamenting the landscape.

Freddy and Kim were married more than a year ago, but never had the chance to take any engagement photos. Kim decided to make it happen, mixing it up with a bit of a pregnancy photo shoot around the North Beach area of San Francisco. It was a unique combination that turned out really well, celebrating and documenting several milestones for this wonderful couple.

Marta and Trevor found me through my past clients Ben and Courtney. They wanted a wide open natural setting for their engagement session, filled with oak trees, rolling golden hills and lots of sun. I thought back to a favorite Mt Tam hiking trail, and we settled on the trip. It was a beautiful sunny day with views over the entire Bay Area, and Mt Tam absolutely lived up to its reputation for stunning natural beauty. Mixed in with a funloving couple, we had a great time and made off with some beautiful images.

Christine and John has a quiet civil ceremony at City Hall in San Francisco last year, but decided to do a full fledged wedding celebration with all of their friends and family at the beautiful Brazil Room nestled in Tilden Park up in the Berkeley Hills. We started the wedding day getting ready at the Claremont Hotel, also a spectacular place for bridal portraits, before moving on to a touching and genuine ceremony out in the quiet countryside.

Besse and Mike’s beautiful estate wedding was a creative blend of Southern California surf culture mixed with the natural beauty of Sonoma wine country. It was set at the beautiful Adytum estate where Besse grew up, in the hills overlooking Sonoma valley. Mexican blankets covered hay bales for the outdoor ceremony under oak trees, fronted by an altar made of surfboards. The wedding dress was a custom Vera Wang which was modeled after a dress that Besse fell in love with while traveling in Florence back in 2007. The candlelit reception took place on the back patio with a spectacular California sunset and rolling hills before the guests turned to dancing under the stars.
